This is my previous treadmill record:
You can see where I first started playing with my time and speed. I used weights, which increased my speed quite a bit. On 6-13 I got my elliptical, which helped me develop a steady routine time of ten minutes before and after my elliptical usage. Here is the revised treadmill log:
I get winded by 7 minutes of walking, but I like to push myself to ten. I do a lot of speed play while trying to increase my speed, which is why the miles fluctuate. I've found that 2.8 mph or .48 of a mile in ten minutes is 75% of my maximum speed. Going at 3.1 mph for ten minutes gives me my maximum milage of .56 of a mile in ten minutes. I was told that 3 mph is a slow pace, but my arms have to be slightly bent to maintain anything past 2.8 mph. It's a brisk speed for me. I'm still not comfortable at 3 mph, so I intend to use leg weights again at 2.8 mph for about a week in hopes to increase my speed.
When I bought my elliptical, I had a hard time adjusting my time. By 5 minutes I get winded. By 10 minutes, I'm dripping sweat. I think 20 minutes is a reasonable time for me. I'm still learning how to use this machine. Here's my previous elliptical log:
I have learned that the higher resistance gives me more calories burned. I started out with a resistance level of 8. I'd switch over to level 10 throughout my workout until I could stay on that level for the entire 20 minutes. Then I moved on from level 10 to 12. Reaching a level 14 resistance is taking much longer for me to achieve. However, I'm developing a faster steady pace on level 12. I just need to be careful and patient. I'll reach level 14 when I'm ready and able. It takes time. This is the revised elliptical log:
I wish I had recorded my transitions between resistance levels, but that's kind of impossible since I switch back and forth as I can handle it.
I've been taking the day off of exercising on Sunday for the past two weeks because Sundays are our errand days. I think I have a pretty good routine and method going on here. I really am starting to see results in my legs. Once I pay off my elliptical, I will buy a universal gym so that I can work my upper arms. I'm going to put it on the other side of the basement, where the clearance is slightly higher. If I dedicate myself to using the elliptical every day for six to eight months, I'll definitely get a universal gym guilt-free.
