We arrived at the bus stop about 20 minutes early because the kid was able to keep up with my now faster stride and I wrongfully estimated the time it would take him to get to the stop. It started raining and we had to wait for the bus under the gas station awning across the street. The bus was about 10 minutes late, which is no big deal, but that meant we spent a half hour waiting at the stop. It took 45 minutes to get to our stop even though the library is less than 5 miles from our house no matter which route you take. When we got to the library, we found that the program was mostly occupied by ages 3-9 and the upper end of that age group were joining their younger siblings. I told the kid that he didn't have to go again and offered that maybe one day we'd ask his friend if we could join her at the pool for the day or just go walk around the stores or so,etching instead. The bus trip was rather delightful once we were on. A guy in front of us was telling us about his daughter, who is going into 8th grade. She has all A's, advanced scores, taught herself Chinese, and takes college classes after school...in 7th grade! I'm not going to doubt the good impression he was trying to give my fidgety fat-headed kid. It was a good conversation. Tbh, I hate riding in public transportation for so many reasons, especially when they only stop on the hour, but I told the kid how nice it was to save money, converse with new people, get to places we couldn't walk to, and sit in the AC. I lied for the greater good.
I did get a new pair of shoes. Finally! They only cost me $27 at that. They're completely white New Balance shoes from Shoe Show. I didn't want completely white shoes, but it's always slim pickings for small women's feet. Did you know they're coming out with this memory foam insert for sneakers and flip flops? IMO, it feels like you're walking on a wad of chewed up gum. However, the flop flop version has this silky material that might be nice when you're just stepping out of the AC. Over all, I don't really care for the memory foam inserts.
I didn't mention this before, but I feel like I should note it. When I was going through menstruation, a few days before actually, my symptoms of PMS changed dramatically. Usually, my stomach cramps up, my body swells and aches all over (stomach, chest, feet, hips, everything), and I get easily aggravated. This month I didn't swell up at all, my cramps only got bad for one evening, and my mood was very lovey. I'd hear a song on the radio that was romantic and I'd start tearing up about how sweet it was. I warned my partner that if he hugged me too much, I'd surely cry tears of happiness. I was most definitely feeling the endorphins. I did have to increase my fluids dramatically which I'm not sure is a result of the heat index or bodily needs. If extra cardio does this to my female time, it's all the motivation I need to keep at it.
My legs have been getting itchy at night when I go to bed. I wash our sheets once a week and shower more than once a day using the same detergents I've been using since the kid was a toddler. My body wash is the same brand I've always used in the bottle I've had for about two months now. I asked a friend about it and she quoted:
"The itchiness is related to a collapse of small capillaries from inactivity. When you start strenuous activity like running, the capillaries open up again but in the process it sends electrical impulses to the brain, which then reads the sensation as an "itch." It should subside as you continue your running"
Last night it was so bad that I thought of taking a Benadryl. It was so hot in the house too. I really don't want to turn the AC on, but its getting to the point where we kinda have to.
