Isn't it just beautiful?! I only paid about $500, which is a steal for something like this. It has a pulse rate monitor and you can change the resistance levels. They had a similar model for $200 extra that inclined, but we don't have the ceiling clearance for that. My bf can't use my elliptical unless we move it to the main level of the house where the ceilings are higher. I just finished paying off a dental bill from February for $370. Each month I give myself a personal line of credit of $100. I try to keep this personal credit on one purchase, but it can tightly accommodate two if necessary. I have 12 months to pay this off, basically 11 months, at about $65 a month. I'll pay $100 per month to try to get it paid off sooner unless something else comes up. This is what I always do with credited purchases.
I just hopped on the thing to test it out and let me tell you...I felt so weak! After 15 minutes, I was panting and sweating so badly that I had to stop. My goal is to get to 30 minutes on this thing. I'm not sure how lo that'll take. I did do a little over a quarter of a mile in that 15 minutes and burned about 125 calories. I'll remember that 15 minutes when I guiltlessly go to grab a quick snack.
I think what I'll do is a 3 minute warmup and 10 minutes of intense walk on the treadmill. Then I'll hop on over to the elliptical for the remaining 15 minutes. I'll give that a try for now and see how things play out. Too bad I don't have a personal trainer to suggest or assure me thA is is a good plan. I'll just have to try it out for myself.
I also bought a pedometer that tracks steps based on individual stride. I turned it on at noon and it says I've taken 2,444 steps and walked 0.45 miles today in the past 3-4 hours. I'm not going to put a lot of faith into my pedometer, but its a good place to start. It's definitely easier than counting every step.
We went skating at the Roll-A-Bout from 7 until 9 tonight. I just stuffed my pedometer in my shoe because the distance was calculating about 10 steps per stride. Given that I didn't turn the counter on until almost noon and did not wear it during skating, I calculated 4,885 steps equaling 0.91 miles. Lovely. I think I'm going to take my counter off when I exercise on purpose. I'm still trying to figure everything out. That's what this month is for though, building a permanent routine with permanent changes. I'm tryi to find a reasonable workout method and schedule. It's actually kind of fun.
