It's rare that the rink has more than maybe 10 people on a Wednesday, so it's great for my social anxiety. If I feel panicky, I just hide behind my bf or focus my attention on the kids. Sometimes I get too tired to keep skating towards the last half hour or so, but its not too long to keep pushing myself. It's ok to stop if you need to. If you push yourself too much, you'll defeat the purpose by hurting yourself. Skating at the rink is also kind to our budget. We can all skate and get sodas for under $10!
Tonight, I'm taking my skates to the rink so that they can grease them for me. My bf bought me skates from the rink as a Christmas gift. The lady who owns the rink flat out told me that they were cheap skates ($70 in her business and $40 in Dick's sporting goods for the same exact brand). I should've returned the skates right then and there, but I was assured by everyone that I just needed to break them in. I actually put them on and held on to my treadmill at running speed to try and break in the wheels a couple of times and it hasn't worked. The manager who recommended the skates to me told me he'd grease them for me if I ever remember to bring them, which I will tonight. It'd be nice to skate on days other than Wednesdays even though I probably wouldn't be able to use them on Wednesdays. Whatever, as long as I can use them period.

Let that soak in for a minute. Then go put on your shorts, bikini, man thong...whatever floats your boat in this sweltering heat with the realization that everybody is sweating way too much to worry about what you're sweating in.
I wish I had done some biking or treadmill walking earlier today, but we had to run errands all morning. At least I'm getting the skating in there. That's something. My friend from Maryland and I are doing an online 30 day ab challenge in June, so maybe I'll practice some of that after skating tonight. Its so stinking hot that its hard to tell if I'll stick to that after we get out of skating. It'd be good to practice before the challenge so that I can do it correctly when I start. I'll explain that challenge more later on. If you're reading, I hope you have a lovely day in front of a cool fan.
~~~~~~~~Update~~~~~~~~
I did not go skating tonight. My poor bf was stuck at work, on his day off, until almost 8pm. By 7:30, I asked our neighbor's kid to go bike riding around the neighborhood with me. It's nice to be able to see other people's yards and say "Hello" while passing by. After almost an hour of riding, my bike buddy skid on his bike, conked his helmet on the ground, and got up like nothing happened. He didn't have a single scratch on him. We were just pedaling down a small hill and I heard some ruckus. I stopped my bike and saw his helmet bounce on the ground. I jumped off my bike and almost puked! Even the young guy who saw him said if he wasn't wearing a helmet it would've been really bad.
I want a helmet! I may ride my bike in the next few days before I can go to the store to buy a helmet, but I REALLY want one now. I'd rather look stupid and sweat than be stupid and hurt. My bf's niece got ran over by a truck on her bike a few summers ago. The helmet was cracked in 3 places, but she only had scrapes and a small puncture on her rib. You'd figure that would've made me get a helmet long before now. Its never too late. I must go get a helmet!
Today's exercise: 1 hour of bike riding and a half a heart attack
