It aggravates me that my progress is so slow. When I was a teenager, I'd see results during the first week of going to the gym. I'd do the treadmill, the elliptical, and weights. Then I'd go tan for just as long as I exercised. Now I'm doing chin-ups multiple times a day for a few months now plus doing sweaty cardio every day and I'm just barely seeing results. I could've jogged when I was younger, but I didn't. Now, trying to jog is what made me sprain my ankle. My tummy just melted away when I was younger, I had an outline of a six pack, but now it seems like the more fat I lose the more obvious other plump areas become. I want to strongly advise younger folks to keep up with their health because its only going to get harder to maintain as you get older. I may look 20-something, but my body is definitely not that young anymore. When I was a big girl, it was easier for me to lose weight with a little exercise, but that doesn't stop me from working out as a thinner person. In the same sense, I can't let age stop me from exercising just because its harder now that I'm older. Patience is a virtue that I must acquire.
I really need to give my muscles a break for the rest of the day. I've worked them hard enough that if I don't slow down today I won't be able to go tomorrow. Tonight, we're going grocery shopping when my bf gets out of work and then to the drive-in to see Malificent and Blended. It'll be nice to sit and spend time as a family. Reward!
I was wondering about those 15-30 minute ab routines. I wonder if they're any good. I know if have to give it a try for more than a week and I'd have to research the snot out of it to be fully confident that I'm doing it right. Maybe I'll give one of those a try. My thighs have always been my weakest link. They're huge and my butt (not as saggy as it once was) is trying its damnedest to slip down to the back of my legs. I aught to be measuring that - knee bend to bottom cheek - lol. I just have such a difficult time doing squats without leaning forward to avoid falling. I have a heck of a time doing a full split too, which I've been trying to do since before Christmas. Sometimes I think my body is just not built to ever be able to achieve some of that stuff. That doesn't stop me from pushing myself just a little more each time. Progress always seems to be so slow for me...slower as I get older. My brain is super active, but my body is sloth-like.
I still want to buy a pedometer to track my steps. I want to look into how much a weight vest costs too. It would be really nice to walk with the same amount of weight as my son. I'll have to approach him with the idea after i look into the cost. I saw an elliptical at goodwill for $150, but I don't have the cash after our camping trip and I'm leery of buying another gently used machine. Maybe I'll get that $30 Gold's Gym stepper when I get my pedometer. I do owe myself a prize for paying off the last payment on my $370 dental bill.
